NDUGA - The Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 503/Mayangkara Kostrad, one of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command (KOOPS TNI) in Papua, is currently carrying out the mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Nduga Regency area, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Tuesday, 16 July 2024, the 503 Task Forces completed the communal work with the Mumugu residents in repairing a building of the "Sekolah Rimba (Jungle School)".
The communal work was conducted due to Social Communication (Komsos) which was actively organized by the 503 Task Forces. According to the 503 Task Forces Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Gurbasa Samosir, the Komsos is a realization of the TNI's commitment to implementing inclusive social communication with all components of the community within the Papua region. Previously, the Batas Batu Post led by First Lieutenant Galih Widiharyo met and communicated with Mr Daniel Menjeh, the Leader of the Mumugu Village. The results of the Komsos approved the plan to repair the Sekolah Rimba building which was damaged in several parts such as the floor and walls made of wood and is currently in a fragile condition. Furthermore, the Soldiers had established well territorial development with the Officials and Community Leaders in Mumugu Village. It resulted in the implementation of communal work which ran safely and smoothly and involved many parties who could speed up the repairment of the school.
The process took 5 days and was conducted through communal work between the Mumugu residents and the Soldiers from the Batas Batu Post. The Mumugu residents enthusiastically welcomed the initiative of the 503 Task Forces to repair the condition of the Sekolah Rimba building. It was due to the residents’ limitations in providing building materials. Eventually, on Tuesday afternoon, the process was completed successfully. In response to the completion of the repair, Mr Daniel Menjeh enthusiastically said, "Thank you Commander 503. The Mumugu Sekolah Rimba was finally repaired. God bless all Soldiers."
Upon receiving the program report, the KOOPS TNI Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, said, "The initiative of the 503 Task Forces inviting the community to work together to repair the Sekolah Rimba in the Mumugu Village is the TNI's realization of conducting inclusive Social Communication with all stakeholders to support acceleration of development in the Papua region."
